Impellers help prevent overheating
An impeller is a gear-shaped wheel used to cool down the boat engine by pumping, mixing, or moving different types of liquids. The impeller is usually located on the vertical drive shaft between the gear housing and the engine. The drive shaft, in turn, is located in the pump housing. When the impeller rotates, the liquid is pushed up into the cooling cavities in the engine. A broken or worn impeller prevents the engine from cooling down, which means that the engine can quickly overheat and fail.
Find the right impeller
It can be difficult to find the right impeller for your boat engine. We therefore recommend that, when you visit your nearest Biltema store, you either bring along your boat engine’s specifications or your old impeller to compare it. This way you can be sure that you will leave the store with the right impeller.
